The Australia Zoo: Southern White Rhinoceros 1 oz Gold 2023 coin is the fourth in the Australian Zoo series. The “Australia Zoo” series consists of silver and gold bullion coins featuring the most important animal species inhabiting one of Australia's most popular zoos. Three coins have been released so far: the Sumatran Tiger from 2020, the Cheetah from 2021, and the Elephant from 2022. The 2023 gold coin features a rhinoceros. The white rhinoceros is the largest land mammal after the elephant. It can reach up to four meters in length and weigh over two thousand kilograms. The bullion coin is minted from pure Au.9999 gold, weighs 1 troy ounce, and has a diameter of 38.74 mm. Its mintage is limited to 250 pieces. The gold coin is produced by the renowned precious metals manufacturer, the Royal Australian Mint. The product comes in its original, certified packaging. The obverse of the coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, along with information about the year of minting, the denomination, and the country of issue. The obverse was designed by Jody Clark. The reverse features an image of an adult white rhinoceros with a young rhinoceros. The reverse also features the inscriptions “AUSTRALIA ZOO” and “SOUTHERN WHITE RHINOCEROS.” In addition, the reverse includes information about the weight and fineness of the gold coin.
