The Australia Zoo: Southern White Rhinoceros 1 oz Silver Coin 2023 is the fourth coin in the Australian Zoo series. The “Australia Zoo” series consists of silver and gold bullion coins featuring the most important animal species living in one of Australia's most popular zoos. Three coins have been released so far: the Sumatran Tiger from 2020, the Cheetah from 2021, and the Elephant from 2022. The 2023 silver coin features a rhinoceros. The white rhinoceros is the largest land mammal after the elephant. It can reach up to four meters in length and weigh over two thousand kilograms. The bullion coin is minted from pure Ag.999 silver, weighs 1 troy ounce, and has a diameter of 40 mm. Its mintage is limited to 25,000 pieces. The silver coin is produced by the renowned precious metals manufacturer, the Royal Australian Mint. The obverse of the coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, along with information about the year of minting, the denomination, and the country of issue. The obverse was designed by Jody Clark. The reverse features an image of a white rhinoceros. The reverse also bears the inscriptions “AUSTRALIA ZOO” and “SOUTHERN WHITE RHINOCEROS.” Additionally, the reverse side features information about the weight and fineness of the silver coin.
