The Gold Sovereign is a popular bullion coin minted by the renowned British mint, The Royal Mint. This unique coin features the image of Charles III. The monarch was born on November 14, 1948, and comes from the Windsor dynasty. He is the firstborn son of Queen Elizabeth II, who was his predecessor. The ceremony took place on May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey. The 2024 Half Sovereign is minted from Au. 916.7 gold, made of 22-carat gold, with a diameter of 19.30 mm, weighing 3.994 grams, in proof standard. Each coin in the historical series has an admixture of copper, which makes it highly resistant to scratches and damage. In addition, all Sovereigns are guaranteed by the UK government. The obverse features the likeness of King Charles III of Great Britain and the inscription “CHARLES III∙DEI∙GRA∙REX∙FID∙DEF,” designed by Martin Jennings. The reverse depicts St. George slaying the dragon. The date of issue is also given at the bottom of the gold coin. The reverse was designed by Benedetto Pistrucci.Designer
