Britannia is the personification of Britain in the classical antique style. Roman bronze coin issues from the reigns of Hadrian and Antoninus Pius served as a model for later depictions of this kind. To commemorate their achievements in Britain, such as the construction of Hadrian's Wall, Antonine Wall, or in relation to this province of the empire, an allegory in the form of the personification of the province of Britannia was placed on the reverse of the coins, depicted as a seated female figure leaning on a round shield and holding a spear or a military sign, the vexillum. On English halfpenny and farthing coins, this image was introduced in the 17th century during the reign of Charles II, with the figure's appearance and attributes indicating that it must have been based on a Roman prototype.Slightly modified over time, the allegory of Britannia took on special significance in the Victorian era and during both world wars, retaining it at least until the 1950s, when it played an important role in the propaganda of the British Empire. This silver bullion coin combines two very important symbols of Great Britain. Since its introduction in 1821, it has become a real attraction for many investors. Minted from high-purity 999 silver by the Royal Mint, it is a highly desirable investment and legal tender in the United Kingdom. The diversity of the series means that the coin is not easily available, making it a model that is eagerly sought after by customers. The Royal Mint is one of the oldest mints in Europe, producing coins and medals for around 60 countries worldwide, and has the exclusive right to produce pounds and state decorations in the United Kingdom. It also issues many commemorative coins, both bullion and collector coins. Among the more popular editions are the silver coin commemorating the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's reign, the series of coins commemorating the London Olympics, and the “Celebration of Britain” series, which symbolically presents Great Britain in its physical, spiritual, and mental aspects. The obverse is modified in every odd-numbered year of issue. It depicts the image of Queen Elizabeth II of England wearing a crown. It also bears the information about the face value of 100 pounds. The reverse side remains unchanged for each edition of the coin. It depicts the traditional figure of Britannia, armed with a trident and a shield. Additionally, it bears information about the purity and weight of the silver.
