The Big Five II: Buffalo 2 x 1/4 oz Gold 2023 Proof product is a set containing coins that are the fifth installment of the second series - Big Five II. The first series was very popular with collectors and buyers. The limited edition series of Africa's Big Five features animals - the elephant, lion, rhino, leopard, and buffalo. The coin depicts a buffalo. The animals are mainly herbivores. The coins are minted from pure Au.9999 gold, weigh 1/4 troy ounce, have a diameter of 22 mm, and are proof quality. The coins were produced by the renowned South Africa Mint and are legal tender in the country of issue. The entire series is guaranteed by the South African government as to the legality, purity, and origin of the metal. The set has a mintage of only 1,000 pieces and comes in individual, original packaging. The obverse shows a buffalo head and the inscriptions “SOUTH AFRICA,” “BIG FIVE 2023,” and the coat of arms of South Africa. The reverse shows two halves of a buffalo head. The reverse features the inscription “FIFTY RAND” and information about the weight and purity of the metal. Placing several coins in one position allows the entire group of buffaloes to be depicted.
