The American Eagle Silver Bullion coin is unique not only because of its high production quality, but also because it is a reverse-stamped coin. This means that the obverse is rotated 180 degrees in relation to the reverse. In addition, each silver eagle is legal tender, guaranteed by the US government in terms of its legality, purity, and origin.
The obverse depicts the personification of Liberty, a symbol of the United States and liberation, walking with the attributes of peace: an olive branch and a torch. At her feet is the seat of the US Congress, with rays of sunlight in the background. The obverse contains the maxim included in the Declaration of Independence - “In God We Trust”. The image of the coin has remained unchanged since the very beginning of the minting of silver eagles in 1986. Adolph Weinman is responsible for the design.
The reverse depicts a single eagle approaching to land, carrying an oak branch as if to add it to its nest. Inscriptions: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.” The reverse was designed by Emily Damstra.
