The Theodore Herzl Centenary Gold 1960 Proof is a coin from the "Israel Independence Day" series. The coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Theodore Herzl - the Jewish political thinker, publicist and writer. He lived from 1860 to 1904 in the Austrian Empire.In honour of Herzl, one Israeli town is named Herzliya.

The coin is minted in Au.916.6 gold, weighing 7.988 grams and 22 mm in diameter, in proof standard. The coin is individually wrapped. The mintage of the product is 10,460 pieces. In addition, this extraordinary piece was produced by The Holy Land Mint. The coin is guaranteed by the Government of Israel as to its legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal.

The obverse shows the coat of arms of Israel, and the inscription "1860-1960" written in English, Hebrew and Arabic, according to a design by Miriam Karoli. The obverse shows the denomination information: 20 ILP-"עשרים לירות". , year and country of origin.

Rewers depict an image of Theodor Herzl and the inscription "אין זו אגדה" in Hebrew, which means "This is not a legend". The designer of the reverse was Andre Lasserre. In addition, the coin bears the mintmark - "מ".
