The Witcher: Baptism of Fire Gilded 2 oz Silver 2023
The Witcher Silver Coin: Baptism of Fire Gold-Plated 2 oz Silver 2023 is the fourth release in the licensed numismatic series inspired by Andrzej Sapkowski’s "The Witcher" saga. The coins in this collection refer to key events and characters from one of the most recognizable Polish fantasy series.
The title "Baptism of Fire" refers to the third volume of the five-part saga. In this installment, Geralt of Rivia sets out with his companions on a journey to find Ciri — the adopted daughter of the Queen of Cintra. During the expedition, the witcher meets many well-known characters, such as Yennefer and Dandelion, while being drawn into the conflict between Nilfgaard and the Northern Kingdoms.
The coin is struck from pure silver of Ag 999 fineness, weighing 2 ounces and measuring 45 mm in diameter. The year of issue is 2023. The composition is enhanced with elements of selective gold plating, which highlight chosen details and give the piece a decorative character.
The obverse of the coin features two crossed swords — steel and silver — symbolizing the witcher’s weaponry. Beside them is the coat of arms of Niue, the issuing country, as well as information on the face value and year of issue.
The reverse depicts a scene inspired by events from the novel "Baptism of Fire." In the foreground is the archer Milva, aiming her bow. Further back appears Regis, the vampire accompanying the witcher, undergoing a trial by fire by removing a red-hot horseshoe. In the background, Geralt of Rivia is also visible, drawing his sword. Altogether, it forms a dynamic scene referencing one of the dramatic moments of the heroes’ journey.
The coin is part of the collectible series The Witcher, and its mintage is limited to 2,000 pieces worldwide. The issue is offered in collector’s packaging, underscoring its limited and prestigious character.
