In 1953, ten sculptures of The Queen’s Beasts guarded Westminster Abbey during the coronation of Elizabeth II. The design is inspired by sculptures adorning the entrance to Hampton Court Palace, symbolizing the power of Henry VIII and the Tudor dynasty. The modern version of these legendary beasts was designed by Jody Clark and The Royal Mint Design Team.

Each gold piece is made from pure metal with a fineness of Au.9999, weighing 1 troy ounce and measuring 32 x 32 mm.
