The Centenary of the Flying Scotsman £2 Copper 2023 is an interesting product that celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2023. The Flying Scotsman is often hailed as the most famous steam locomotive in the world. It was first introduced to the railways in 1923.

The cylinder is minted in a copper-nickel alloy, weighing 12 grams, 28.40mm in diameter. The mintage of the coin is unlimited. In addition, this unusual piece was produced by The Royal Mint. The coin is guaranteed by the UK government as to its legality, purity of bullion and origin of the metal, and is full legal tender in the issuer's country. The Averse shows the effigy of King Charles III of Great Britain and the denomination and year, according to a design by Martin Jennings.

Rewers show a Flying Scotsman and the inscriptions "FLYING SCOTSMAN LNER 4472", "1923- 2023". John Bergdahl is responsible for the design of the reverse.
