St George and the Dragon 1 oz Gold 2025
St George and the Dragon 1 oz Gold 2025 is the second release in the bullion coin series dedicated to the legend of Saint George and the Dragon, presenting a new interpretation of this timeless tale. Known since the 11th century, the story continues to inspire artists and collectors around the world. This year’s edition features a reinterpretation of the design by George Kruger Gray, originally created for the Silver Jubilee of King George V in 1935. For the first time, this dramatic design appears on a coin enriched with neo-Gothic stylistic elements.
The coin is struck from .9999 fine gold, with a weight of 1 troy ounce and a diameter of 32.69 mm. It was produced by The Royal Mint and is backed by the UK government as legal tender, with full guarantees regarding its legitimacy, purity, and origin of the precious metal.
Obverse features the portrait of His Majesty King Charles III, along with the face value, designed by Martin Jennings.
Reverse by George Kruger Gray depicts a dramatic scene of Saint George slaying the dragon. The Gothic-inspired composition shows the hero piercing the beast with a lance—a timeless symbol of good triumphing over evil. The reverse also bears inscriptions of the year of issue, weight, and metal purity.
