Niue Silver Coin: Czech Lion 1 oz Silver 2026 is a commemorative bullion issue prepared by the Czech Mint to mark the 10th anniversary of the popular Czech Lion series. The coin refers to one of the most important national symbols of the Czech Republic—the heraldic lion, which for centuries has represented strength, courage, and independence.

The motif of the Czech lion stems from rich history and legend. One tale speaks of Prince Bruncvík, who acquired a lion during his expedition, while another attributes the granting of the symbol to Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa. The characteristic double-tailed lion became a hallmark of the Czech lands and a symbol of prestige and chivalric virtues such as bravery and loyalty.

The coin is struck from pure .999 fine silver (Ag), weighing 1 troy ounce (31.1 g) and measuring 37 mm in diameter. It is legal tender issued by Niue with a face value of 2 dollars (NZD).

Obverse features the effigy of King Charles III along with the face value and the year of issue 2026, in accordance with the rules for coins issued under Niue licensing.

Reverse depicts a realistically rendered, striding double-tailed Czech lion wearing the Crown of St. Wenceslas. The design by Vojtěch Dostál is distinguished by a new relief and a high level of detail, emphasizing the animal’s majesty and its symbolic significance as the national emblem of the Czech Republic.
