Silver Coin Lunar III - Year of the Goat Gold-Plated 1/2 oz Silver 2027 Beijing Show Special
The Lunar III - Year of the Goat 2027 Beijing Show Special silver coin is a gold-plated issue from The Perth Mint created for the Beijing International Coin Exposition. It combines a Chinese lunar calendar design with a decorative finish and an illustrated display card. The goat is the eighth animal of the Chinese zodiac, traditionally associated with gentleness, creativity and compassion.
Gold-plated 9999 silver, mintage and packaging
The coin is struck from 1/2 troy ounce of 9999 fine silver (99.99%) and coated with gold. It is a gold-plated silver coin. Its minimum weight is 15.553 g, maximum diameter 32.60 mm and maximum thickness 2.90 mm. With a face value of AUD 0.50, it is Australian legal tender.
Both the maximum mintage and the issue limit are 3,000 coins. The mint-condition coin is housed in an illustrated card for display and storage. This BICE Show Special issue complements a Lunar III collection and offers a gift idea featuring the Year of the Goat.
Obverse and reverse of the Year of the Goat 2027 coin
Obverse: Dan Thorne’s portrait of King Charles III, surrounded by CHARLES III and AUSTRALIA, together with the silver content 1/2oz, fineness 9999 Ag and denomination 50 CENTS.
Reverse: Natasha Muhl’s design depicts three goats in a mountainous landscape beside a flowering plum tree. The scene evokes the Chinese motif “Three Goats Bring Bliss”, symbolising the arrival of spring and renewal. The Chinese character for goat, GOAT 2027 and the P mintmark complete the design.
