Silver Coin Lunar III - Year of the Goat 1 oz Silver 2027 Proof High Relief
The Lunar III Year of the Goat 2027 silver coin in Proof High Relief is a collector's issue from The Perth Mint's Australian Lunar Series III. It contains 1 troy ounce of 9999 fine silver, combining a mirror-like Proof finish with high relief. Concave surfaces on both sides facilitate metal flow during striking to bring out the design's details.
The Goat is the eighth animal in the Chinese lunar calendar, traditionally associated with gentleness, creativity, empathy and resilience. The coin can be a gift for those born in 2027, 2015, 2003, 1991 or 1979, or an addition to a lunar collection.
The denomination is 1 Australian dollar. Minimum coin weight is 31.107 g, maximum diameter 32.60 mm and maximum thickness 6.10 mm. Maximum mintage is 3,888 coins. The coin is presented in a decorative case with an outer box featuring the Year of the Goat theme.
Obverse
The obverse features Dan Thorne's portrait of King Charles III, surrounded by the inscriptions “CHARLES III”, “AUSTRALIA”, “1 oz 9999 Ag” and “1 DOLLAR”.
Reverse
Natasha Muhl's design depicts three goats of different ages in a peaceful setting. It evokes the saying “Three Goats Bring Bliss”, symbolising the end of winter, the arrival of spring and prosperous new beginnings. A blossoming plum tree represents purity, resilience and hope. The Chinese character for goat, “GOAT 2027” and the “P” mintmark complete the design.
