Silver Coin Girl with a Pearl Earring - Strangers Among Us 1 oz silver 2025 Proof
Girl with a Pearl Earring places Johannes Vermeer’s familiar portrait in a science-fiction setting. Large black eyes and an otherworldly face transform the girl, while her blue-and-gold head covering and pearl earring retain the link to the painting. Cool colours deepen the mysterious atmosphere. This is the second release in Strangers Among Us, a cycle combining fine art with imagined encounters with aliens.
Silver and presentation
Issued by Cameroon in 2025, the coin has a face value of 1000 CFA francs. It contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver, measures 40 mm and has a Proof finish with digital colour printing. The mintage is 1000 pieces. A protective capsule, dedicated presentation case and certificate of authenticity complete the issue. The case allows the portrait to be displayed while keeping the collector’s set together.
Obverse and reverse
Obverse shows a flying saucer over a city skyline, with a beam directed towards the buildings and fields in the foreground. Inscriptions name the Republic of Cameroon, 1000 FRANCS CFA, 1 oz, Ag 999 and 2025.
Reverse depicts the coloured, alien reinterpretation of Vermeer’s girl with a pearl earring. Large black eyes give her an extraterrestrial appearance. A window with a flying-saucer motif appears on the left.
