Minted from one troy ounce of 999 gold, this coin is issued by the Republic of Rwanda with a face value of 100 Rwandan francs, carrying government guarantee and recognized as legal tender in the issuing country.

The obverse of the coin carries the coat of arms of the Republic of Rwanda with the face value of 100 Frw. The obverse design is shared across the entire family of coins issued by Banque Nationale du Rwanda, providing a guarantee of authenticity and official status.
The reverse depicts a family of spotted hyenas – an adult and two young – against an outline of Africa highlighting their origins. The design is dominated by naturalistic graphics capturing the hyenas’ distinct features: short, strong legs, a massive forebody, and a characteristic silhouette. Around the main motif are the words “AFRICAN OUNCE” and detailed data on weight, fineness, and the year 2026. The coin’s diameter is forty millimeters and the edge is delicately reeded.
