Poland 10 Zloty Banknote (10 PLN) Circulated Condition
The 10-zloty banknote is a modern means of payment that combines aesthetic qualities with advanced security technologies. It measures 120 x 60 mm, and its graphic design references the figure of Duke Mieszko I—symbol of the beginnings of the Polish state and its rich historical heritage.
Obverse: The image of Duke Mieszko I, surrounded by elements referring to his reign. On the left are two stylized rosettes inspired by the floor of Gniezno Cathedral; on the right, a plant motif typical of Romanesque liturgical vessels. The banknote incorporates a range of security features, including a watermark with the ruler’s likeness and the number “10” visible against the light. Raised elements, such as the denomination and portrait, are also designed for the visually impaired.
Reverse: A silver denarius depicting a chapel dome or a crown with a cross. On both sides, stylized Romanesque columns from the Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec. Additional security features include an iridescent turquoise stripe and microprinting that makes counterfeiting more difficult.
Security features:
Watermark: The ruler’s image and the numeral “10”.
Security thread: A vertical thread marked “10” and “ZŁ”, visible against the light.
Iridescent stripe: A stylized turquoise stripe with the markings “10” and “ZŁ”.
Recto-verso: Graphic elements on both sides that form a complete image—a crown within an oval—when held up to the light.
Tilt effect: The numeral “10” appears light or dark depending on the viewing angle.
Microprinting: Small inscriptions visible under magnification.
Invisible elements: Visible under UV light, e.g., a square with the number “10” and the banknote’s serial number.
