Platinum Coin Perth Mint: The Outback 1 oz Platinum 2026
Perth Mint Platinum Coin: The Outback 1 oz Platinum 2026 is a collector’s release produced by The Perth Mint as part of the Wonders of Australia series, showcasing the most important symbols of Australia’s nature and landscape. The coin pays tribute to the rugged beauty of the Australian outback—a vast region encompassing deserts, canyons, savannas, and an exceptionally rich array of fauna and flora.
The coin is struck in Pt .9995 platinum, weighs 1 troy ounce (31.119 g), and has a diameter of 32.6 mm. It carries a face value of 100 Australian dollars and is struck to a high minting standard. The maximum mintage is 5,000 pieces. The coin is delivered in a protective capsule.
The design celebrates the exceptional biodiversity of the Australian outback, home to hundreds of thousands of animal and plant species, many of which are found only on this continent.
Obverse features a portrait of King Charles III by Dan Thorne, together with details of the issuing country, weight, platinum purity, and face value. The composition is surrounded by a decorative motif inspired by elements of Australian flora and coral reefs.
Reverse, designed by Jennifer McKenna, depicts a panorama of the Australian outback with characteristic landscape elements—sandstone rock formations, waterholes, and a rising sun. The composition also includes numerous species typical of the region, including an emu, eagle, dingo, kangaroos, and a frilled lizard. The design is completed by the “P” mint mark and the 2026 year-date.
The coin also includes a micro-engraved security feature in the form of a small letter hidden within the reverse design, visible only under magnification.
