Perth Mint: Lunar III – Year of the Horse Coloured 1/4 oz Silver 2026 (Hobart Money Expo ANDA Special)
Perth Mint: Lunar III – Year of the Horse Coloured 1/4oz Silver 2026 (Hobart Money Expo ANDA Special) is an exclusive collector’s coin from the Australian Lunar Coin Series III. It honours the seventh animal in the Chinese zodiac – the horse – which is associated with independence, charisma, and a love for adventure.
According to Chinese tradition, the emperor organised a great race between all the animals on Earth to decide their positions in the lunar calendar. Galloping towards the finish line with determination, the free-spirited horse was startled by a snake wrapped around its hoof, losing a place but still finishing seventh.
Those born under the sign of the Horse in 2026, 2014, 2002, 1990, and every 12th year before, are said to be passionate, spirited, and naturally charming, with the ability to inspire others.
The coin is struck from 1/4oz of 99.99% pure silver and has a maximum mintage of 15,000. The reverse portrays a coloured image of a majestic mare with her foal in a dynamic galloping pose, set against a mountainous and grassland background. Also featured are the Chinese character for "Horse", the inscription "HORSE 2026", and The Perth Mint's "P" mintmark.
The obverse bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, along with his name, the country of issue, denomination, weight, fineness, and the year of issue.
