The Year of the Goat in the Chinese Zodiac
According to Chinese tradition, the Goat placed eighth in the race organized by the legendary Emperor, who determined the order of the animals in the lunar calendar. People born under the sign of the Goat are considered gentle, creative, compassionate, and endowed with exceptional sensitivity. The coin’s motif also refers to the auspicious saying “Three Goats Bring Bliss”, symbolizing the end of winter, the arrival of spring, renewal, and favorable new beginnings.
Limited Issue by The Perth Mint
The coin has a face value of 0.50 Australian dollars and was struck from the highest-quality silver with a purity of 99.99%. The maximum mintage is just 5,000 pieces, with an issue limit of 4,000 coins. The reverse design was created by Natasha Muhl, while the obverse was designed by Dan Thorne, the creator of the official effigy of King Charles III used on contemporary Australian coinage.

Obverse: Features the official portrait of His Majesty King Charles III by Dan Thorne. The composition also includes information regarding the face value, weight, and silver fineness.
Reverse: Depicts an adult goat, a young goat, and a kid peacefully grazing in a meadow. The background is completed by a blossoming plum tree, symbolizing purity, perseverance, and hope. The design also includes the Chinese character for “Goat,” the inscription GOAT 2027, and The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark.
