Nicholas II Romanov the last tsar of Russia, reigned 1894-1917. Crowned in Moscow 1896 after death of his father. Continuer of conservative policies, opponent of reforms. In 1904-1905, he led a self-induced war against Japan, which ended in Russia's defeat.In 1905, the revolution broke out. Although the tsar relented on some issues and established the State Duma, equipped with legislative powers, the situation did not return to the pre-revolutionary state of affairs. Nicholas II unable to manage the country in political turmoil and command of his army on March 15, 1917 abdicated. After his arrest, he was finally murdered on the night of July 16-17, 1918, along with his entire immediate family.
