NBP: Millennium of the Coronation of Bolesław Chrobry 20 PLN 2025 Banknote is the seventeenth collector banknote issued by the National Bank of Poland with a face value of 20 PLN. The banknote commemorates the millennium of the coronation of Bolesław Chrobry, the first King of Poland, which took place in 1025. The coronation marked the transformation of the young Polish state from a duchy into a kingdom, sending a clear signal to contemporary Europe of Poland’s sovereignty and growing regional significance. Bolesław Chrobry, son of Mieszko I and Dobrawa, played a pivotal role in consolidating statehood, developing administrative structures, and supporting the Church, which contributed to the stability and prestige of the young nation.
His coronation had both political and religious significance – crowned by the Archbishop of Gniezno, the king gained not only secular authority but also sacred legitimacy. This act strengthened Poland’s position among European states and emphasized its independence and equality with other monarchies. The banknote has a denomination of 20 PLN. It is issued in a limited mintage of up to 70,000 pieces and is supplied in the original NBP paper and foil case along with an official issue folder, emphasizing its collector and historical value.
