Lithuania: 230th anniversary of the 3rd of May Constitution coloured 20 euro Silver 2021 Proof + certificate
The 230th Anniversary of the May 3rd Constitution – Colored 20 Euro Silver Coin 2021 is a unique item commemorating an important event in the history of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth – the adoption of the May 3rd Constitution. This is one of the most significant achievements in the history of Poland and Lithuania, marking the beginning of a new era for both nations. The coin is an excellent example of cooperation between Poland and Lithuania within the Commonwealth of Both Nations.
The coin was minted by the Lithuanian Mint and has a nominal value of 20 euros. It is made of silver with Ag.925 purity, weighs 28.28 g, and has a diameter of 38.61 mm. It has been struck with a high-quality proof finish, giving it a special shine and elegance. The mintage is limited to 2,500 pieces.
Obverse of the coin features a four-part coat of arms of the former Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, referencing the design used during the reign of Stanisław August Poniatowski. Surrounding the coat of arms are inscriptions in Lithuanian, explaining the significance of this constitution and symbolizing the unity of both nations during that historical period.
Reverse depicts a fragment of the introduction to the May 3rd Constitution, as well as a detail from the painting "Adoption of the Constitution" by Jan Matejko. In the upper part of the reverse, the country's name *LIETUVA* (Lithuania), the nominal value of 20 euros, the year of issue 2021, and the Lithuanian Mint mark are placed, emphasizing the uniqueness of this issue.
