Krugerrand 1/10 oz Gold 2019
The Krugerrand, the world's most famous and sought-after investment coin. The name of this gold coin is a combination of the words 'Kruger' and 'rand' - which is the name of South Africa's currency. The coin has been minted continuously since 1967. Initially only produced in one ounce weights, however, Krugerrands in 1/2, 1/4 and 1/10 ounce gold weights were introduced in 1980. The bullion coin is minted from 916 grade gold with a small admixture of copper (8.333%), making it more scratch-resistant and also distinguished by its unusual colour.
South African Mint is the official mint of South Africa, based in Centurion, Gauteng Province near Pretoria. It produces coins for the South African Reserve Bank, headed by A. M. Mvinjelwa.
The obverse is decorated with a portrait of the President, Paul Kruger, above which are the words "SUID-AFRICA" AND "SOUTH AFRICA".
The reverse depicts a springbok antelope, the symbol of South Africa. On either side of it are numbers representing the year of minting, and underneath is the inscription "Fyngoud 1oz fine gold", indicating the pure gold content.
