Kookaburra 1/10 oz Platinum 2026
Kookaburra 1/10 oz Platinum 2026 is a unique bullion coin from the renowned Australian Kookaburra series, issued by The Perth Mint. This year’s edition combines the long tradition of one of the world’s most recognizable mint series with the rare precious metal platinum, making the coin attractive for both investment and collecting.
The coin is struck from 1/10 ounce of pure platinum with a fineness of .9995 to a bullion standard. The compact diameter of 16.6 mm, while maintaining high detail precision, highlights The Perth Mint’s craftsmanship. Platinum, as a metal with limited supply and industrial applications, gives this issue an additional investment dimension.
The kookaburra, a member of the kingfisher family, is one of Australia’s most distinctive birds. Known for its loud, “laughing” call that rings out at dawn, it is often called the “bush clock.” Its presence in folklore, art, and popular culture has made it a lasting symbol of Australia’s nature and identity.
The coin has a face value of 15 Australian dollars and is legal tender in Australia. The 2026 release is limited to a maximum mintage of 15,000 coins. The reverse design by Wade Robinson offers a fresh interpretation of the classic motif while preserving the series’ recognizable character.
Obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Dan Thorne, together with the coin’s monetary denomination.
Reverse shows a kookaburra in flight over a river, surrounded by trees and a rocky landscape. Also visible are the inscription “KOOKABURRA,” The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark, the 2026 year-date, and the weight and purity of the platinum.
