History of the Polish Coin – 3 Groschen of the Duchy of Warsaw 20 zł Silver 2025 Proof is an exceptional collector’s item, part of the renowned “History of the Polish Coin” series. Issued by the Mint of Poland in sterling silver (.925), it weighs 28.28 g and measures 38.61 mm in diameter. Struck to the highest minting standard – proof – it features laser frosting and selective copper plating. The mintage is limited to a maximum of 10,000 pieces, and the design was created by Dominika Karpińska-Kopiec.
Obverse depicts a section of the reverse of a historic copper 3 grosze coin from 1812, with a clearly visible numeral “3” and the inscription “GROSZE”. Beneath them are the year of issue and the initials of the then Mint Master of the Warsaw Mint – Jakub Benik (“I.B.”). The background is adorned with a detail of the seal of the Supreme Council of the Duchy of Warsaw. At the bottom, within a separate field, appears the White Eagle – the national emblem of the Republic of Poland – alongside the mint mark “m / w”. Around the rim is the inscription “RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA 2025” and the denomination “20 ZŁ”.
Reverse features a semicircular inscription “3 GROSZE KSIĘSTWA WARSZAWSKIEGO” and a depiction of the obverse of the period copper coin. The central element is a two-part shield with the Saxon-Polish coat of arms, topped with the Saxon royal crown and flanked by two palm branches. On the left and at the bottom is an ornament inspired by the cover of the Constitution of the Duchy of Warsaw, adding a rich historical dimension to the design.
