The Great Southern Land Gold Coin 1 oz Gold 2026 Chrysoprase Proof is an exclusive collector’s piece from The Perth Mint, dedicated to the extraordinary nature of Australia. Its distinctive feature is a natural chrysoprase shaped like the Australian continent, whose green color perfectly evokes the lush rainforests.
Great Southern Land – Australian Nature in Gold
The design celebrates the richness of the flora and fauna of Australia’s rainforests. Chrysoprase, sometimes referred to as “Australian jade,” is found, among other places, in Queensland and Western Australia. Each stone has natural variations in color and structure, making every individual piece potentially unique in appearance. The coin has a face value of 100 AUD, weighs a minimum of 31.107 g, and its mintage is limited to just 200 pieces.
Coin obverse and reverse
The obverse features the official effigy of King Charles III by Dan Thorne. The monarch’s portrait is accompanied by the appropriate inscriptions and the face value of 100 Australian dollars.
The reverse, designed by Aleysha Howarth, depicts Australian wildlife, including a crocodile, cassowary, kingfisher, bat, snake, frog, butterfly, and spider. The animals and native vegetation surround a central green chrysoprase insert in the shape of Australia. The design is completed by the “P” mintmark, the year 2026, and the coin’s weight and gold fineness.
