The Duchess of Hamilton £2 Silver Coin Coloured Silver 2026 Proof is a collector’s issue prepared by The Royal Mint, commemorating one of the most recognizable locomotives in the history of British railways.

Duchess of Hamilton was built in 1938 at the Crewe Works for the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS). The locomotive was designed to operate the most prestigious express services between London and Glasgow. Thanks to its streamlined silhouette and distinctive Art Deco-style stripes, it became a symbol of the golden age of British railways, combining elegance, speed, and innovation.

The coin was struck in .925 fine silver, with a weight of 12.00 g and a diameter of 28.40 mm. The numismatic coin has a denomination of 2 pounds sterling and was produced in the highest minting standard, Proof. The outer ring has been additionally plated with a layer of pure gold, while the coloured reverse highlights the locomotive’s distinctive historic appearance.

The obverse features the official effigy of King Charles III by Martin Jennings, along with the denomination.
