Congo: Prehistoric Life II – Carnotaurus Colored 1 oz Silver 2025 is an investment coin and the fourth release in the second *Prehistoric Life* series. The coin features Carnotaurus – a bipedal predator from the Abelisauridae family that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 72–69.9 million years ago in what is now Argentina. The name “Carnotaurus” means “meat-eating bull” and refers to its carnivorous diet and distinctive horns. Based on the only discovered skeleton, Carnotaurus is estimated to have reached a length of 8–9 meters.
This silver coin with a colored depiction of Carnotaurus is struck from .9999 fine silver, weighs one troy ounce, and measures 38.6 mm in diameter. It is a bullion coin with an extremely limited mintage of just 2,000 pieces. This product is legal tender backed by the government of the Republic of Congo and comes in a protective capsule.
Obverse features the coat of arms of the Republic of Congo, along with inscriptions indicating the denomination, weight, and silver fineness.
Reverse displays a dynamic colored scene of two Carnotaurus hunting smaller dinosaurs in a primeval landscape. The inscriptions “PREHISTORIC LIFE”, “CARNOTAURUS”, “72 - 69.9 MIO YEARS BC”, and the year of issue – 2025 – are also included.
