Canada: Tall Ships – Ketch Rig, $200 Gold, 2026, Proof
Canada: Tall Ships – Ketch Rig is an exclusive gold collectible coin struck from 99.99% pure gold, issued in 2026 by the Royal Canadian Mint with a face value of $200. It is the fifth release in the prestigious “Tall Ships” series, dedicated to historic sailing vessels that shaped Canada’s maritime heritage.
The coin pays tribute to ketch-rigged vessels commonly used on the St. Lawrence River. For centuries, they transported goods, families, and local stories between riverside communities, becoming symbols of ingenuity and maritime tradition.
Struck in Proof quality, the coin weighs 15.43 g and measures 29 mm in diameter. The mintage is strictly limited to just 800 pieces worldwide.
The obverse features the official effigy of King Charles III.
The reverse, designed by Yves Bérubé, shows two views of a ketch: under full sail and grounded at low tide, with 2026 and the $200 denomination.
