Canada: Animal Portraits – Woodland Caribou 3/4 oz Silver 2020
Woodland Caribou 3/4 oz Silver 2020 is a collector’s coin produced by the Royal Canadian Mint as part of the Animal Portraits series. It features the woodland caribou – a subspecies of reindeer inhabiting Canada’s boreal forests and the largest caribou subspecies in North America. This species can be found in the wild from Alaska to Labrador and Newfoundland. The coin was struck from pure silver with a fineness of 9999 and contains 3/4 troy ounce of precious metal. It is known for its high-quality finish and advanced security features – such as a micro-engraved maple leaf with the number “17” inside, radial lines on both the obverse and reverse, and a serrated edge. Reverse shows a profile image of the woodland caribou. The animal is depicted with its distinctive large antlers – a unique trait of this species, as both males and females have antlers. Females shed their antlers during pregnancy, which naturally protects them from predators and hunters targeting males. The reverse also displays the coin’s weight, silver purity, issuing authority, and year of issue. Obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Susanna Blunt. The obverse also includes the coin’s face value. Note: Please note that the product image is for illustrative purposes only. The actual appearance of the item may slightly differ from what is shown.
