The Big Five II: Elephant 1000 grams Silver 2021 Proof coin is the first instalment of the second series, the Big Five II. The first series was very popular with collectors, buyers. The limited series of the Big Five of Africa is made up of animals - elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard. The coin shows the African Elephant, which is Africa's largest and most impressive animal. In the wild, an elephant can live up to 60 years.

The silver bullion coin was struck from pure Ag.999 bullion, weighing 1,000 grams and with a diameter of 100 mm, in proof standard. This unique piece was produced by the renowned mint, The South Africa Mint, and is official legal tender in the issuing country. The entire series is guaranteed by the South African government as to the legality, purity of the bullion and the origin of the metal.The Silver Elephant has a mintage of only 100 pieces, individual pieces are supplied in a presentable wrapper from which additional information about both the coin and the animal itself can be read.

The obverse shows the head of an African Elephant and the inscription "SOUTH AFRICA" , "BIG FIVE 2021" and the South African coat of arms.

On the reverse the two halves of the elephant's head are depicted. The reverse bears the inscription "FIVE RAND" and information about the weight and purity of the bullion. By arranging several coins in one position, the entire elephant herd can be depicted.
