Australian Eagle 1 oz Silver 2026
Australian Eagle 1 oz Silver 2026 is one of the most recognizable silver bullion coins issued by The Perth Mint. This year's edition represents the 11th official design of the Australian Wedge-tailed Eagle, created by John M. Mercanti — a distinguished American sculptor and engraver, former Chief Engraver of the United States Mint.
The coin is struck from 1 troy ounce of .9999 fine silver in bullion finish. Thanks to its high metal purity, limited mintage, and legal tender status in Australia, this issue is appreciated by both investors and nature-themed collectors.
The wedge-tailed eagle is Australia's largest bird of prey and one of the largest eagles in the world. Its distinctive wedge-shaped tail, powerful build, and ability to soar at great heights make it a symbol of freedom, strength, and endurance. Found across mainland Australia and Tasmania, it perfectly embodies the spirit of the continent’s vast landscapes.
The 2026 release has a maximum mintage of 50,000 pieces and includes an additional security feature in the form of an authentication mark. The reverse design stands out with a so-called dual eagle motif, combining the symbolism of Australia and the United States.
Obverse of the coin features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Dan Thorne, together with the face value of 1 Australian dollar.
Reverse depicts the head of the Australian wedge-tailed eagle in the foreground and the American bald eagle in the background, both facing right. The inscriptions "AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE", the "P" mintmark, the 2026 year-date, and the weight and fineness of the silver are also present.
