The Australia Zoo: Elephant 1 oz Silver 2022 coin is the third piece in the Australia Zoo series. The Australia Zoo series consists of silver and gold bullion coins themed around the most important animal species inhabiting one of the most popular zoos located in Australia. Two coins have been released so far - the 2020 Sumatran Tiger and the 2021 Cheetah. The 2022 silver coin depicts a majestic herd of elephants. The coin showcases Sumatran elephants. Elephants are the largest animals living on Earth. They can consume up to 50 tonnes of food per day. The bullion coin was struck in pure Ag.999 silver, weighing 1 troy ounce and with a diameter of 40mm. Its mintage is limited to 25,000 pieces. The Royal Australian Mint, a renowned precious metals producer, is responsible for the production of the silver coin. The Averse of the coin depicts an image of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom along with information on the year of mintage, the denomination and the issuing country. The obverse was designed by Jody Clark.
The reverse features images of four elephants - Christina, Megawati, Widya and Raflesia. The reverse bears the inscription "AUSTRALIA ZOO" and "SUMATRAN ELEPHANT".
