The obverse of the coin features a profile of Queen Elizabeth II of England by Ian Rank-Broadley and the date of issue.The reverse of the coin depicts the Australian National Coat of Arms together with the words Australian Citizenship. The Australian National Coat of Arms contains the emblems of the six States of the Commonwealth of Australia on a shield surrounded by an ermine border symbolising the Australian Federation in 1901. The crown of the coat of arms containing a seven-pointed star appears above the shield, which is supported by a kangaroo and an emu.
