American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin (Various Years)
The American Eagle is an investment gold coin, one of the best-selling and most popular gold bullion coins worldwide. It is a product with high investment liquidity and a hallmark of the United States Mint.
The American Eagle coin is minted in a weight of 1/4 ounce and a purity of Au.916. This coin is made of 22-karat gold with a small admixture of silver and copper. This admixture enhances durability and color. The American Eagle is distinguished not only by high production quality but also by being struck with an inverted die, meaning the obverse is rotated 180 degrees from the reverse.
The 2025 Gold Eagle is an investment product guaranteed by the US government for its legality, metal purity, and origin. It is also a full legal tender in the issuing country.
The obverse depicts the personification of Liberty, a symbol of the United States and liberation, walking with the attributes of peace: an olive branch and a torch. At her feet is the US Congress building, with the sun’s rays in the background. The obverse design was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
The reverse features a close-up portrait of the Eagle gazing into the distance, designed by Jennie Norris. The reverse also contains the maxims from the Declaration of Independence: "In God We Trust" and "E pluribus unum," along with information about the coin’s weight and face value.
