American Eagle 1/10 Ounce Gold 2026
American Eagle 1/10 Ounce Gold 2026 is the smallest fraction of the United States Mint’s American Gold Eagle bullion coin series, containing 1/10 troy ounce of gold in .9167 fineness (22 karats). The total weight of the coin is about 3.39 g, of which approximately 3.11 g is pure gold, with the remainder being a copper and silver alloy that increases wear resistance. The coin’s diameter is about 16.5 mm, thickness about 1.19 mm, and its face value is 5 U.S. dollars. These parameters are consistent with the series specifications for the 1/10 oz denomination.
The 2026 issue coincides with the 40th anniversary of the American Gold Eagle program, launched in 1986, and with the 250th anniversary of the United States. The coin is struck to bullion (Brilliant Uncirculated) standard and is official legal tender of the USA, though its actual value depends on its gold content and the current bullion price. Owing to its small unit weight, the 1/10‑ounce fraction is among the most affordable variants in the series, used both as a form of small savings and as an investment‑style gift. The 22‑karat alloy gives the coin a distinctive, slightly darker hue compared with issues in 999.9 fine gold.
Obverse features the classic allegory of Liberty (Lady Liberty) after the design by Augustus Saint‑Gaudens, known from the historic Double Eagle. The figure stands against the rays of the rising sun, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, symbolizing peace. At the bottom is a panorama of the Capitol in Washington, D.C., and stylized rocky ground, while stars along the rim represent the states of the Union. Above the figure is the inscription “LIBERTY,” and at lower right the year of issue “2026.”
Reverse shows the new profile image of the bald eagle, in use since 2021, by Jennie Norris. The bird’s head fills a large part of the field, with a clearly defined eye and detailed plumage, underscoring the symbolism of strength and vigilance. Around the rim are the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” At the bottom of the reverse appear the face value “5 DOLLARS” and the weight and metal “1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD.” The coin’s edge is reeded, in keeping with the security standard used throughout the American Gold Eagle series.
