$1 banknote, 1 ounce of copper
$1 Banknote 1 oz Copper is a numismatic tribute to the original 1899 Black Eagle Silver Certificate banknote, one of the most recognizable American banknotes. This round coin is made from 1 ounce of .999 fine copper and faithfully reproduces the details of the historic design, transferring the distinctive elements of the paper banknote onto a high‑quality metal round. The piece was struck by a private mint in the United States from domestic copper, further underscoring its collectible character.
The Black Eagle Silver Certificate motif, issued from 1899–1929, was distinguished by a majestic eagle with outstretched wings standing on a furled flag. The historic design also featured the portraits of two presidents—Abraham Lincoln on the left and Ulysses S. Grant on the right—making it the only banknote in U.S. history to place two leaders on its obverse.
Obverse of the copper coin depicts an eagle with widely spread wings inspired by the 1899 design, along with the portraits of Abraham Lincoln on the left and Ulysses S. Grant on the right, as well as characteristic inscriptions and details styled after the original.
Reverse presents the ArtBarMint mint logo centered, surrounded by the inscriptions “SILVER CERTIFICATE,” “1 oz .999 FINE COPPER,” the numeral “1,” and the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” referencing the appearance of the historic banknote.
