The year 2024 belongs to the dragon, which in Chinese mythology is a majestic beast inhabiting rivers, lakes, oceans, and wandering the sky. The Chinese zodiac sign of the dragon falls in the years: 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, and 2024. The coin is minted from pure Ag.9999 silver, weighs 1 troy ounce, and has a diameter of 40.9 mm. The mintage is 200,000 pieces. The world-renowned precious metals manufacturer The Perth Mint is responsible for the issuance of the coins. In addition, the Year of the Dragon 2024 coin is guaranteed by the Australian government and is legal tender in the country of issue. Each coin is placed in an individual, original package. The obverse of the Year of the Dragon silver coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark. The whole is surrounded by the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II”, ‘AUSTRALIA’ and information about the face value, weight and fineness of the metal. The reverse depicts a colored dragon.
