The Lunar series refers to the 12 animals that represent the Chinese lunar calendar. The year 2024 belongs to the dragon, which in Chinese mythology is a majestic beast inhabiting rivers, lakes, oceans, and wandering the sky. The Chinese zodiac sign of the dragon falls in the years: 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, and 2024. The gold coin was minted in Au.9999 fineness, weighing 1/10 troy ounce, in proof standard. An important feature is the limited mintage of only 5,000 coins. Each coin comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity and original packaging. The obverse of the Year of the Dragon coin features the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA.” In addition, the obverse side includes information about the coin's face value, weight, and fineness. The reverse side depicts a Chinese dragon.
