The 2025 Black Proof High Relief 2 oz Silver Gold-Plated Kiwi Collector Coin is a highly prized coin that is part of the limited edition Kiwi series issued since 2004. The 2025 product depicts a pair of kiwis of the species “Apteryx rowi” with their egg, reflecting the unique characteristics of this species, such as the sharing of childcare between the male and female. Chicks often remain in the family group for several years. The coin is also decorated with a traditional kowhaiwhai pattern, emphasizing the connection between the iwi people and the rowi. This pattern was donated by Fayne Robinson of Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio. The coin is minted from pure Ag.999 silver, weighs 2 troy ounces, and has a diameter of 50 mm. It is produced in black proof and high relief by BH Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt GmbH, commissioned by New Zealand Post. The coin is plated with yellow gold. What's more, the Kiwi 2025 has a limited mintage of only 250 pieces. Importantly, each piece comes in an exclusive case. The obverse of the coin features the image of King Charles III. The obverse also includes information about the date of issue, the country of issue, the weight, and the purity of the metal. The obverse was designed by Daniel Thorne. The reverse depicts a pair of rowi kiwis in their nest with their egg. In the background is a traditional kowhaiwhai pattern, symbolizing the connection between the iwi people and the rowi. The reverse was designed by Sacha Lees, in collaboration with Te Rūnanga O Makaawhio. The reverse also features the inscription “ROWI OKARITO BROWN KIWI APTERYX ROWI” and the coin's face value.Designer
