The Ada Lovelace £2 gold-plated Silver 2023 Proof Piedfort commemorates Ada Lovelace, a visionary of the computer age. She was a brilliant mathematician and a great lover of poetry. Lovelace is considered to be the first person to have written a computer program. The coin is minted from Ag.925 silver, weighs 24 grams, has a diameter of 28.40 mm, and is in proof and piedfort standard. The mintage is 750 pieces. Additionally, the coin is plated with yellow gold. Furthermore, this extraordinary coin was produced by The Royal Mint. The coin is guaranteed by the British government as to its legality, purity, and origin of the metal, and is legal tender in the country of issue. The obverse features the likeness of King Charles III of Great Britain, the inscription “CHARLES III∙D∙G∙REX∙F∙D” and the denomination and year, designed by Martin Jennings. The reverse of the coin depicts the cards used to program the Analytical Engine. The reverse features the inscriptions “ADA LOVELACE,” “COMPUTER VISIONARY,” “1815-1852,” and “A DISCOVERER OF THE HIDDEN REALITIES OF NATURE.” The reverse was designed by Osborne Ross.Designer
