Wildflowers of Australia: Waratah 1 uncja Gold 2022
The 2022 coin depicts the beautiful red Waratah flower, which grows in Australia, New South Wales and Tasmania. The plant can reach up to 4 metres tall in eucalypt forests and mountainous areas. Waratah has five species, of which Telopea speciosissima is the most recognisable.
The bullion coin was struck in pure Au.9999 gold, weighing 1 troy ounce and measuring 38.74 mm in diameter. Its mintage is limited to 5,000 pieces. The Royal Australian Mint, a renowned precious metals producer, is responsible for the production of the gold coin. The Averse of the coin depicts an image of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom along with information on the year of mintage, weight, proof and country of issue. The obverse was designed by Jody Clark.
The reverse features three Waratah flowers. In addition, the reverse provides information on the face value of the coin. The designer of the reverse was A. Stokic.
