USA: 25 Cents - Quarter Dollar (0,25 USD) Silver Random Year (fineness Ag.900) Circulated
The U.S. Silver Quarter (25 cents) is one of the most important and recognizable numismatic items in the American monetary system. Made from 0.900 silver (Ag.900), this coin weighs 6.25 grams and has a diameter of 24.3 mm. As part of American numismatic heritage, it is an excellent investment option in silver and a valuable collector's item.
It is important to note that depending on the year of issue, both the obverse and reverse of the coin may differ, and coins may come from various minting periods, making each one unique and adding to its collectible value.
Obverse: The obverse of the U.S. 25-cent coin from 1932 onwards typically features the portrait of George Washington, the first president of the United States. The design, by John Flanagan, shows Washington in profile, with the inscription "LIBERTY," the mint year, and the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST." Washington's portrait has become one of the most iconic images in the American monetary system. However, over the years, there have been some changes to this obverse design. From 1999 to 2020, as part of the "50 State Quarters" program, the obverse featured modified designs, such as different portrayals of Washington and additional decorative elements. In 2022, the obverse returned to the classic portrait of Washington designed by Flanagan.
Reverse: The reverse of the U.S. 25-cent coin also underwent changes during different minting periods. From 1932 to 1998, the reverse depicted an eagle, symbolizing freedom, holding an olive branch and arrows, symbolizing peace and strength. The upper part of the reverse featured the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR." As part of the 50 State Quarters program, launched in 1999, the reverse design changed to 50 different designs, each commemorating a different U.S. state. Each reverse featured unique symbols associated with the state, such as famous buildings, animals, or other elements of state culture. Additionally, after 2020, the "America the Beautiful Quarters" program was introduced, showcasing various national parks and monuments in the U.S.
