The coin commemorates Stanisław Konarski – a Piarist priest, educational reformer, political writer, and one of the most outstanding intellectuals of the Polish Enlightenment. His work had a profound impact on the development of education, language, and constitutional thought in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the ideas he promoted became the foundation for later reforms.
The coin is struck from 2 ounces of pure Ag 999 silver, with a weight of 62.20 g and a diameter of 45.00 mm. The use of High Relief gives the design exceptional depth and sculptural expression, emphasising the medallic character of the issue. The mintage is limited to 4,000 pieces. The coin is presented in an elegant folder/case.
The Treasures of Medallic Art series combines classical medallic inspirations with modern minting techniques, creating issues of high artistic and collectible value. The edition dedicated to Stanisław Konarski is an important element of this collection, highlighting the significance of Enlightenment intellectual heritage in Polish history.
Obverse: the central design features two books referring to the works of Stanisław Konarski: “On the Improvement of Speech Defects” and “On an Effective Way of Giving Advice, or on Maintaining Ordinary Sejm Sessions”, decorated with an oak wreath. Above, in a semicircle, appears the motto “SAPERE AUSO.”, and below the inscription “STAN: AUG: REX. / MDCCLXV.”. The surrounding legend includes “RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA”, the denomination 50 ZŁ, the Polish Eagle emblem, the mint mark, and the year of issue 20–26.
