The "Jonah in the Whale" 2010 Proof 3-Coin Set is the 15th edition in the "Biblical Art" series. This exceptional set references the biblical story of the prophet Jonah, who was sent by God to warn the people of Nineveh about their impending destruction. The story recounts his attempt to flee, a storm, his being swallowed by a great fish, and his prayer and redemption that ultimately saved the city.

The coins in this set are crafted from high-quality metals in proof standard, ensuring excellent finish. Each coin is individually packaged and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The coins are issued by the Bank of Israel and produced by The Holy Land Mint. Every coin is legal tender in Israel and guaranteed by the government for authenticity, purity, and metal origin.

Coins included in the set:
10 NIS** – Gold .917, diameter 30 mm, weight 16.96 g, mintage of 444 pieces.
2 NIS** – Silver .925, diameter 38.7 mm, weight 28.8 g, mintage of 2,800 pieces.
1 NIS** – Silver .925, diameter 30 mm, weight 14.4 g, mintage of 1,800 pieces.

Obverse: The obverse of each coin features the inscription *“Jonah in the belly of the fish, Jonah 1:17”* in Hebrew and English. It also includes the denomination (*1, 2, or 10 New Sheqel*) and the year of issue (*5771/2010*). The obverse also bears the word *“Israel”* in Hebrew, English, and Arabic, along with the Israeli state emblem at the top. An additional detail is the mint mark – the Star of David or the Hebrew letter "מ".

Reverse: The reverse presents an artistic depiction of Jonah praying inside the belly of the great fish. On the gold coin, Jonah is depicted centrally with outstretched arms. This extraordinary scene was designed by Aharon Shevo. The attention to detail and symbolism reflects the spiritual essence of this biblical story.

Important: The silver coins in the set may exhibit a natural patina, characteristic of high-purity silver products, adding aesthetic and collectible value.
