The Royal Tudor Beasts: The Greyhound of Richmond 1/4 oz Gold 2025 is the seventh release in the Royal Tudor Beasts series. The coin showcases the rich heraldry of the Tudor dynasty, referencing emblems visible throughout the United Kingdom, as well as the sculptures that decorate the entrance to Hampton Court Palace. King Henry VIII used heraldic symbols as powerful tools of visual communication to emphasize his royal lineage and undeniable right to the throne.
The entire series will consist of 10 coins featuring depictions of beasts – The Lion of England, The Bull of Clarence, The Tudor Dragon, The Greyhound of Richmond, The Royal Dragon, The Yale of Beaufort, The Seymour Unicorn, The Queen’s Panther, The Queen’s Lion, and The Seymour Panther.
The coin is struck from 1/4 troy ounce of pure gold (Au.9999) and has a diameter of 22 mm. The mintage of this coin is unlimited. This remarkable piece was produced by The Royal Mint.
Obverse features the portrait of King Charles III and the coin’s face value, designed by Martin Jennings.
Reverse depicts one of the Tudor Beasts – the white greyhound – along with the inscription "THE GREYHOUND OF RICHMOND". The reverse was designed by David Lawrence.
