The Queen’s Beasts: The Griffin 1 oz Platinum 2018

The Griffin Platinum coin is the second in the Queen's Beasts coin series issued by The Royal Mint in the UK. The series with the griffin is of particular interest to investors, so now they have a new product on offer, a 1 oz platinum coin. A coin for all those who are looking for new investment opportunities. On the obverse of the platinum coin, the ancient beast, the Griffin, is visible. It was believed to be a noble creature, symbolising courage and strength combined with guardianship, vigilance and speed. It was closely associated with Edward III, who engraved it on his private seal. The shield that the Griffin holds in his talons shows the round tower of Windsor Castle, where Edward III was born, flanked by the two branches of an oak tree, with the royal crown towering over it.Rewers show the image of the British Queen, Elizabeth II, above which is engraved the royal title in Latin, Dei Gratia Regina Fidei Defens, which in the original reads The grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith. The platinum one-ounce Griffin coin, like the others in the Queen's Beast series, was designed by Jody Clark.
