The Perth Mint Silver Coin: Gingerbread Christmas Coloured 2 oz Silver 2026 Antiqued is a unique piece inspired by the centuries-old tradition of gingerbread baking. This festive issue combines European folklore, the Christmas spirit, and the craftsmanship of the renowned The Perth Mint.
The coin was struck from 2 ounces of .9999 fine silver, with a minimum weight of 62.213 g. The piece has a diameter of 45.60 mm, a thickness of 6.50 mm, and a face value of 2 AUD. The maximum mintage is limited to just 3,000 pieces, highlighting the collectible nature of this issue.
Coloured design and Antiqued finish
The central feature of the coin is a colourful, enamelled gingerbread man figure. The Antiqued finish creates a striking contrast with the vivid details and enhances the relief of the festive composition.
Obverse and reverse of the coin
Obverse features the effigy of King Charles III by Dan Thorne, the coin’s face value, and a decorative arrangement of stars surrounding the central gingerbread element.
Reverse depicts a town of gingerbread houses, candy canes, and figures singing carols, sledding, building a snowman, and carrying presents. Also visible are the year 2026, the silver weight and fineness, and the “P” mintmark. The reverse was designed by Jennifer McKenna.
