The specimen is minted in Au.916.7 gold, weighing 15.98 grams, 28.40 mm in diameter, in proof standard. In addition, the coin is rose gold plated. The mintage of the coin is 300 pieces. Furthermore, this extraordinary piece was produced by The Royal Mint. The product was placed in its original packaging. The coin is guaranteed by the UK government as to its legality, purity of the bullion and origin of the metal, and is full legal tender in the issuer's country. The Averse shows the effigy of King Charles III of Great Britain and the denomination and year, as designed by Martin Jennings.

Rewers depicts a Flying Scotsman and the inscriptions "FLYING SCOTSMAN LNER 4472", "1923- 2023". John Bergdahl is responsible for the design of the reverse.
